Chicago man charged after incident involving Barrington Police officer on Route 14

The man allegedly ran his car into the officer then fled

BARRINGTON – A Chicago man has been charged with multiple felonies in connection with a crash where a Barrington police officer was struck by a car Monday night on Route 14.

Atlas A. Davis, 29, of the 3400 block of West Polk Street, Chicago, has been charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving with a suspended license and multiple traffic citations, according to a news release from the Barrington Police Department.

Davis allegedly struck an officer with a car Monday night on Route 14 in Barrington, then fled the scene, police said. Police were trying to conduct a traffic stop for a suspicious vehicle about 7:40 p.m. when the incident occurred.

The officer was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the release.

Barrington and neighboring police departments pursued the fleeing vehicle. Davis was later arrested.

He is being held at the Lake County Jail awaiting bond call, according to the release.
