A McHenry woman has been cited after the vehicle she was driving collided with a school bus filled with the Crystal Lake Central High School’s varsity softball team, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Angela Cantrell, 62, was issued a citation Wednesday afternoon for failure to yield the right of way at a T-intersection, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Sandra Rogers.
Police directed traffic after the crash at South Fleming Road and Hidden Lane near Woodstock. A Crystal Lake School Districts 47 and 155 bus was on the side of Fleming Road about 4:30 p.m. Cantrell’s vehicle had front-end damage.
A total of 17 people were on the bus, including the Crystal Lake Central varsity softball team traveling to a game at Woodstock North High School, according to District 155 director of communications Shannon Podzimek.
One student suffered a minor injury and was evaluated at the scene before being released, Podzimek said.
The team was transferred to another bus to be taken to its game at Woodstock North.
