Several McHenry County educators have taken on roles with the Illinois Principals Association executive board.
The association this month announced its board members, including Lindsay Jonas, director of professional development with Algonquin-based School District 300. The association also appointed Bridget Belcastro, principal of Johnsburg Elementary school in District 12, as its membership chairwoman.
Belcastro previously has served as state director, region director, region treasurer and membership chair, and organized the Student Recognition Breakfast for the Kishwaukee Region of the Illinois Principals Association.
Huntley High School principal Marcus Belin in District 158 will begin a new term as the state legislative chairman.
Belin has served the Central Illinois Valley Region of the Illinois Principals Association as a board member. He previously served as assistant principal at Dunlap High School and as assistant principal and dean of students at Quest Charter Academy High School in Peoria.
The association aims to develop, support and advocate educators in Illinois. The organization provides networking opportunities, professional development, counsel and leadership opportunities, according to its website.
The Illinois association recognized other McHenry County administrators as the best leaders in the Kishwaukee Region in 2016. The region covers Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, DeKalb and Kane counties.
