An uptick in West Nile virus activity in McHenry County has led the village of Lake in Hills to launch a mosquito control operation.
Mosquito control company Clarke Environmental performed a bug abatement Thursday, according to the village’s website. Recent treatments took place July 1 and 10.
On Aug. 3, the McHenry County Department of Health tested an American robin and discovered it was carrying the West Nile virus, county records show.
At least seven mosquito pools in McHenry County tested positive for West Nile virus, according to county data.
Those sites were in Fox River Grove, Harvard (two), Hebron, Lake in the Hills (two) and Woodstock.
