Crystal Lake’s 1776 Restaurant has been honored with the Award of Excellence for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2018 Restaurant Awards.
The award recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.
“We are especially honored to receive this award because it is a reflection of the community that supports us,” said Erik Nordstrom, who joined 1776 in 2016 as wine and spirits director. Nordstrom will be taking the Certified Sommelier Examination in October. “For nearly 18 months, we have been working together with the city and local vendors to provide a destination for wine lovers in McHenry County. With their support, we have been able to expand our selection and achieve this great honor.”
