A search warrant executed at a Lake in the Hills warehouse led drug agents to about 35 pounds of suspected cocaine, authorities said.
In connection with the seized drugs worth an estimated $512,000, the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Ivan A. Moreno-Gollegos, 18, and Juan C. Sanchez-Cacho, 40, both of Carpentersville, with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
On Sept. 20, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kane County Heroin Initiative Task Force launched a monthlong investigation into a local narcotics network, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office news release.
With the help of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was executed at a warehouse in the 9100 block of Trinity Drive in Lake in the Hills.
The investigation led to the seizure of about 35 pounds of suspected cocaine.
Under the direction of the Kane County Heroin Initiative Task Force, the investigation involved members of the DEA’s Chicago office, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
“The seizure of these illegal drugs and arrests of the violators during these joint law enforcement efforts show the power of partnering together to attack those who funnel their narcotics into our communities,” DEA Special Agent in Charge Brian McKnight said in a statement.
