Wauconda police are investigating after 41-year-old Paul Carr was found dead Monday in a field off Rand Road.

The investigation into the bloody death of a Buffalo Grove man is ongoing, but officials said Thursday the incident doesn’t appear to be a homicide.

Paul Carr, 41, of Buffalo Grove was found dead Monday in a field near the 2000 block of Rand Road. Police had responded to a reported suspicious vehicle and found large amounts of blood in the car.

Officers used K-9 units and drones to search a large cornfield near where the vehicle was found. Carr’s body was found several hundred yards into the field, police said.

“It does look like it was probably suicide,” Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said Thursday. “We aren’t ruling anything out, but it doesn’t look like a homicide.”

Toxicology reports likely will be back within two and a half weeks, Cooper said.

The Wauconda police investigations division is working with multiple agencies on the case.

Buffalo Grove police said they are “currently investigating an allegation against Mr. Carr, which reportedly occurred at his place of work.”
