Cary-Grove won Fox Valley Conference titles in four of the seven flights and took home the team championship at the FVC girls tennis tournament, which finished Friday at The Racket Club in Algonquin.
C-G finished with 49 team points, edging defending tournament champion Jacobs (48) by one point. Crystal Lake Central (45) finished third.
C-G senior Bethany Marshall won her second consecutive title in the
No. 1 singles bracket. She defeated Crystal Lake South’s Skylar Olsen, 6-1, 6-1, beating Olsen in the title match for the second year in a row. Huntley freshman Ruhi Gulati took third place.
Trojans junior Kaitlin Warner earned the title in No. 2 singles. She beat Prairie Ridge’s Ela Kusmierz, 6-3, 7-5.
C-G’s top doubles pair won the No. 1 doubles bracket. Karina Los and Alina Krembuszewski defeated Prairie Ridge’s Maddy Ljunggren and Kaitlyn Theil, 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.
Huntley’s Riley Conradt and Michelle Barnvos took third in No. 1 doubles.
C-G’s fourth first-place finish came from juniors Grace O’Malley and Olivia Schladt at No. 4 doubles. They defeated Jacobs’ Carolyn Atkinson and Angelina Adame, 6-3, 5-7, 11-9.
Crystal Lake Central’s Julia Fier won the No. 3 singles title. She beat Jacobs’ Lindsey Taylor, 7-5, 3-6, 10-4, in the final. The Tigers also had a conference champion at No. 3 doubles, where Morgann Paaske and Emma Grindstaff took home the title.
Jacobs’ Kaya Trumbo and Isha Desai, both freshmen, won the No. 2 doubles bracket. They beat Central’s Katie Haviland and Cassie Preshlock, 6-2, 6-2, in the final.
