High school sports roundup for Monday, Oct. 15

Amelia Reiter and Jessie Proszenyak each had seven kills as Crystal Lake South defeated Proviso West, 25-11, 25-19, in a nonconference volleyball match Monday night.

The Gators (12-18) had six service aces from Kelly Carlson and 17 assists from McKenzie Wilson in the victory.

Rockford Christian 2, Alden-Hebron 1: At Rockford, the Giants (12-13-1) lost their nonconference match to the Royal Lions, 23-25, 25-14, 25-22.

Melanie Nielsen led A-H with 22 kills, 14 digs and four blocks. Taylor Horton had 25 assists, eight digs and two blocks, and Zoe Deeringer had four kills, 12 digs and three assists.

Saturday's late results

ESCC Meet: Marian Central junior Ryan Jones took second, and sophomore Peter Walsdorf was fifth in the East Suburban Catholic Conference Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Arlington International Racecourse in Arlington Heights.

Jones and Walsdorf led the Hurricanes to fifth place in the 10-team meet. Siobahn Stoll took 10th in the girls race, where the Hurricanes finished seventh as a team.

It was the first time a high school cross country race was held at the track.

The Hurricanes boys and girls teams will compete in the Class 2A Woodstock Regional on Saturday at Emricson Park.
