After numerous setbacks and delays, BBQ King Smokehouse is set to open Wednesday at 11706 E. Coral St., Huntley, owner Jason Szmurlo said.
In a social media post, the Woodstock-based business thanked the village of Huntley and Mayor Charles Sass for making the restaurant possible. “We are glad to call Huntley home and will make it our priority to make the downtown area a destination place,” the post read.
Szmurlo said this will be a soft opening, and he is targeting a grand opening ceremony Nov. 17.
Overflow parking will be available in the church parking lots to the south and east of the building, according to the post.
The restaurant will be the largest tenant at the Coral Street site, which also has two 1,500-square-foot retail spaces. Charles Nordman, Huntley’s director of development services, said businesses have not yet been finalized for these spaces.
He said the village definitely is excited to see BBQ King open.
The restaurant will offer a menu featuring ribs, brisket, wings, sandwiches and various barbecue platters.
It has won numerous awards in a variety of barbecue competitions, including Chicago’s Ribfest, and has been featured on Food Network’s “Food Fest Nation.”
