A 53-year-old Lake in the Hills resident was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night at West Algonquin and Crystal Lake roads, police said.
A 53-year-old Lake in the Hills resident was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night at West Algonquin and Crystal Lake roads, police said.

A 53-year-old pedestrian struck by a vehicle Tuesday night at West Algonquin and Crystal Lake roads has died, according to a report from the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The victim, who was identified as David Popovich of Lake in the Hills, had been crossing the intersection when he was hit by a vehicle westbound on Algonquin Road, according to a news release.

The driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old Algonquin woman, was not injured and did not show signs of impairment, police said.

Popovich had been taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital on Tuesday and was reported to be in critical condition. He died at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, and an autopsy had not been completed as of Thursday afternoon, according to the medical examiner’s office.
