The Raue Center in Crystal Lake has some big names hitting the stage Thursday and Friday night. Attendees should be prepared for singing, some comedy – and more singing!
At 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, actress, comedian, author and singer, Jane Lynch brings her Christmas album, “A Swingin’ Little Christmas,” to life on the Raue stage for one night only.
The Raue is the show’s seventh stop on a 23-stop tour. The Emmy Award-winning Lynch, most known for her role as Sue Sylvester on the Fox show, “Glee,” will perform songs from her album, “A Swingin’ Little Christmas,” live in concert. Kate Flannery, best known for her role as Meredith on NBC’s “The Office,” accompanies Lynch, along with singer and music producer Tim Davis, who arranged the music on “Glee.” The three are backed by the Tony Guerrero Quintet.
The trio toured together previously in Lynch’s cabaret-style show, “See Jane Sing!”
“We are very proud to welcome the many talents of Jane Lynch to the Raue Center stage! ‘A Swingin’ Little Christmas’ promises to be a show full of memories to be talked about for years to come,” Raue Center Board President Tim Paul said. “What a great way to celebrate the holidays!”
The following night at 8 p.m., join the Raue for “Puddles Pity Party.” It’s not all sad, though. Dubbed “the sad clown with the golden voice,” the crooner serenades his audience with wistful pop anthems.
Always in his persona, the man behind the clown does not speak, Puddles only sings, so don’t expect a Q&A.
“When I first saw Puddles, I was scared. I have a phobia of clowns, thanks to Stephen King, and Puddles is a very tall and imposing clown,” Raue Center Executive Director Richard Kuranda said. “But he won me over within 20 seconds of his show and, by the end, I was on my feet applauding with the rest of the room. Puddles is an amazing talent and one of the most memorable acts you will ever see!”
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. the night of both events. To buy tickets, visit www.rauecenter.org/upcoming-events or buy through the Raue Center box office.
