Fire breaks out in McHenry house; no injuries reported

Firefighters were called Friday afternoon to a house in the 3800 block of Main Street in McHenry, according to authorities.

Firefighters were called Friday afternoon to a house fire in McHenry, according to authorities.

At 12:38 p.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 3800 block of Main Street for a possible structure fire with reports of black smoke coming from the building, according to a district news release.

Fire crews entered the building and initiated fire suppression and search operations.

Fire was found and extinguished on the first floor and in the basement of the building. The operation took 39 minutes.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.

A damage estimate is currently not available, but the house has been deemed uninhabitable. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
