A late night house fire broke out in McHenry Friday, according to authorities.
About 11:45 p.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 2400 block of Bennington Lane in McHenry for a structure fire, according to a district press release.
Firefighters found heavy fire coming from the rear of the house. Because the neighborhood does not have fire hydrants, a box alarm was activated to provide additional water tankers to the scene.
Fire crews attacked the fire with hoses at the rear of the building and used additional hose lines at the front of the building.
All occupants safely evacuated the building, there were no injuries.
The fire was extinguished approximately forty five minutes after authorities were dispatched to the scene.
A damage estimate is currently not available, but the house sustained substantial damage to the rear of the building, the roof and inside.
The house has been deemed uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
