Marengo senior Marissa Knobloch notched school records with 40 points and 10 3-pointers as the Indians defeated Hoffman Estates, 84-45, in their Pool B game at the Northern Illinois Holiday Girls Basketball Classic on Monday at Richmond-Burton.

The win puts Marengo (10-4 overall, 3-0 Pool B) into the championship bracket at 5 p.m. Friday against Crystal Lake Central.

Knobloch’s 40 points was one point better than the previous school record set by Kristan Knake. Knobloch’s previous best was 37. Her 10 3s is a school record for boys or girls, beating her brother Zach’s record of nine 3s in one game.

Knobloch, who will play at NCAA Division II Indianapolis next year, hit nine 3s in the first half and had 29 points at halftime.

Jordan Parker added 16 points, and Jennifer Heinberg had 13 for the Indians.

Wauconda 57, Prairie Ridge 56: At Richmond, Karsen Karlblom scored 25 points and hit five 3s as the Wolves (6-8, 1-2 Pool B) lost to the Bulldogs at the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Allie Tylka led Wauconda with 25 points. Maddie Ljunggren added 11 points, with three 3s, and Karly Statter scored nine for the Wolves.

Lakes 49, Woodstock 33: At Richmond, the Blue Streaks trailed, 15-2, after the first quarter and coudn't recover in a loss in their Pool A game at the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic. The Streaks (2-11, 0-3 Pool A) were led by Juel Mecklenburg with seven points and a 3.

Lucia Alcazar and Kelsey Perkins had six points apiece off the bench, Erin Lockwood scored five points with seven rebounds, and Anna Rowan grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. Woodstock next plays Hoffman Estates in the fourth-place bracket at 5 p.m. Friday in McHenry.

Marian Central 38, Belvidere 26: At McHenry, the Hurricanes 6-6, 3-0 Pool C) won their pool with a victory over the Bucs at the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Janelle Allen scored 17 points, and Morgan Laudick added 11 for Marian, which advances to the championship bracket.

McHenry 60, Woodstock North 20: At McHenry, Izzy Gscheidle, who surpassed 1,000 points for her career Satuday, scored 22 to lead the Warriors (9-5, 2-1 Pool C) past the Thunder (6-9, 1-2) at the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Katie Beyer added 15 points for McHenry, which advances to the second-place bracket on Friday.

Taylor Prerost and Abby Hartmann each scored five for North.

Johnsburg 75, DeKalb 32: At McHenry, the Skyhawks (8-6, 2-1 Pool D) rolled past the Barbs and into the second-place bracket, which begins Friday.

Mackenzie Straulin led Johnsburg with 19 points, Katelyn Davis added 17, Morgan Madsen had 14, and Megan Madsen had 13.

Round Lake 47, Crystal Lake South 35: At McHenry, Maddie Scharrenburg scored eight points to lead the Gators (3-10, 0-3 Pool D) in their loss at the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Maddy Bush, Ava Sevcik and Allie Schoen each added six points. Round Lake finished 3-0 in the pool and advances to the championship bracket at 6:30 p.m. Friday to face Marian Central.

Hampshire 48, Larkin 33: At Elgin, Kelby Bannerman scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Whip-Purs (12-2) beat the Royals for their 11th consecutive win.

Ally Cermak added 12 points and hit three 3s for the Whips. Morgan Haefling scored nine points.

Genoa-Kingston 50, Harvard 33: At Genoa, Haily Hill scored eight points to lead all players as the Hornets (1-10) fell to the Cogs in their nonconference game.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Genoa-Kingston 59, Woodstock North 48: At Woodstock, Cole Brey scored 14 points to lead the Thunder (3-5) in a nonconference loss to the Cogs.

Ryan Schaffter and Zach White scored nine points each for North.

GIRLS BOWLING

Huntley 2,417, Belvidere North 2,368: At Huntley, Cassie Lugo rolled the high game of the match with a 219 to lead the Red Raiders past the Blue Thunder.

Lugo finished with a 547 series. Gen Porsche rolled a 526, with a high game of 193. The Blue Thunder got two 200-plus games in the third match, but Huntley answered with Lugo and Porsche’s top games, along with a 189 from Rachel Pepke.
