Authorities have identified a 23-year-old Ingleside man killed in a head-on crash about midnight Saturday.
About 12:10 a.m., Lake County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a crash near Route 134 and North Robin Road in Ingleside, where they found two cars with major damage, according to a news release.
An investigation revealed that Feliciano Hernandez-Saucedo of the 356000 block of North Franklin Avenue had been driving a 2002 Acura TL west on Route 134, just east of Robin Road. At the same time, a 72-year-old Round Lake man was driving a 2000 Buick Century east in the same area.
For an unknown reason, Hernandez-Saucedo pulled the Acura into the eastbound lanes of traffic and hit the Buick Century head-on.
Hernandez-Saucedo was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation suggests that he was not wearing a seat belt. The Lake County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy Monday and ruled blunt force trauma as the manner of death.
The driver of the Buick suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the Buick, a 72-year-old Round Lake woman, suffered critical injuries. An ambulance took both the driver and his passenger to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
As of Wednesday night, the woman remained in critical condition with multiple fractured bones, Lake County Sheriff's Office spokesman Christopher Covelli said.
