A Crystal Lake man has been sentenced to jail and probation after reportedly attacking a seven-months’ pregnant woman and ignoring a court order not to visit the newborn baby.
Christopher W. Feirn remained in the McHenry County Jail on Tuesday on a 14-day jail sentence for battering a pregnant woman in March.
McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather issued the sentence Monday along with a two-year probation term, public records show.
Feirn, 20, also pleaded guilty to a 2017 misdemeanor theft charge for which he received court supervision.
His attorney, Assistant Public Defender Richard Behof, could not be reached for comment.
Feirn, of the 700 block of Redwood Street, was accused in March of tackling a woman to the ground and “bouncing” on her while saying, “Let’s kill the baby,” according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court.
He was freed on bond after posting $1,500 on March 26, jail records show.
One of the conditions of Feirn’s bond barred him from having any contact with the victim, prosecutors have said.
On June 18, Feirn sought to temporarily lift the no-contact order so he could be present for the child’s birth.
Prather denied the request, but two days later, Feirn visited with the newborn, prosecutors said at an August hearing. Behof told the judge that the victim also sent Feirn photos of the baby.
