Police seek convicted Ingleside sex offender wanted on new assault charges

Lake County Sheriff’s officials are searching for a convicted sex offender wanted in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a girl who is a relative in November.

Police believe 34-year-old Barry A. Deacon fled his Ingleside home in the 35600 block of North Greenleaf Avenue after officers’ investigation into sexual assault claims against him, according to a news release.

Deacon possibly is in the Ingleside or Chicago area, the release said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received allegations in November that Deacon made sexual advances toward a girl who is related to him, according to the release.

The girl was visiting relatives
Nov. 10 in the 35600 block of North Greenleaf Avenue when Deacon allegedly sexually assaulted her, the release said.

Deacon previously was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim younger than 13 years old in a 2003 Lake County case, public records show. He was sentenced to three years in prison, 250 hours of public service and intensive probation.

Police said Deacon is 5 feet,
7 inches tall and 155 pounds. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team at 847-377-4250 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at 847-662-2222.
