High school sports roundup for Wednesday, Jan. 23

Katelyn Skibinski led Dundee-Crown with 13 points in a Fox Valley Conference win, 48-42, over Cary-Grove on Wednesday in Carpentersville.

Payton Schmidt and Gianine Boado each added 12 points for the Chargers (18-7, 10-1).

Maddie Jannusch led C-G (8-14, 6-5) with 15 points. Taylor Tomasiewicz scored 13 points and Emily Lukowski added 10.

McHenry 60, Prairie Ridge 42: At McHenry, Ava Interrante scored 19 points and dished out eight assists for the Warriors in an FVC win over Prairie Ridge.

Katie Beyer scored 17 points and Izzy Gscheidle added 15 for McHenry (17-8, 8-3).

For Prairie Ridge (10-13, 3-9), Karsen Karlblom led the way with 14 points. Karly Statter and Maddy Ljunggren each scored nine.

Huntley 36, Crystal Lake South 23: At Crystal Lake, Huntley’s Anna Seng led the Red Raiders with eight points in an FVC win. Melissa Moffett scored seven points, while Kamsi Nwogu and Briana Bower each added six for Huntley (8-16, 4-7).

Maddie Bush led South (6-16, 3-9) with five points. Brooke Kuffel scored four.

Marengo 59, Richmond-Burton 34: At Richmond, Marissa Knobloch scored 22 points for the Indians in a KRC win over R-B.

Erin Haeflinger and Jennifer Heinberg each scored 13 points, while Lauren Aubry contributed nine points for Marengo (19-5, 8-1).

Kayly Hogan and Melanie Wagner led R-B (10-12, 5-5) with 10 points apiece.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Crystal Lake Central 78, Huntley 65: At Huntley, Central (13-7, 7-2) picked up an FVC win over Huntley.

Ryan Sroka paced the Red Raiders (11-11, 5-5) with 26 points. Uchenna Egekeze scored 10 points and Davis Pasco added nine.

Dundee-Crown 76, Elgin 66: At Elgin, the Chargers (16-4) came away with a nonconference victory on the road.

BOYS SWIMMING

Woodstock co-op 100, Huntley 77: At Woodstock, the Woodstock co-op swim team won seven events, with Quinn Cynor and Nick Phillips each contributing to three victories.

Cynor won the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.80) by nearly 14 seconds, along with the 100 freestyle (48.21). Cynor, Phillips and teammates Gunner Dunnett and Aiden Teuber won the 200 medley relay (1:42.56).

Phillips also won two events individually: the 100 butterfly (59.03) and the 100 backstroke (57.71). Teuber won the 50 freestyle (23.85) and Logan Lorr won the 500 freestyle (5:20.42).

Huntley won two relays. Max Deutschle, Jack Harper, Grant Yonamine and Maxwell Hagberg won the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.04). Deutschle and Hagberg teamed up with Kacper Cebula and Dillon Cherwin to win the 400 freestyle relay (3:24.71).

Cherwin won the 200 freestyle (1:50.80) and Cebula won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.71) for Huntley.

GIRLS BOWLING

Lakes 2,262, Johnsburg 1,957: At Raymond’s Bowl in Johnsburg, on senior night, Skyhawks senior Miranda Hopp recorded a team-best game of 150, along with a 408 series, in a loss to Lakes.

Jessica Meyer turned in a 402 series for the Skyhawks. Kassidee Beasley bowled a 388 series and Toria Blake recorded a 375.
