Crystal Lake Central's competitive dance team turned in a seventh-place performance Friday in the Class 2A state preliminaries at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington to advance to Saturday's finals.

The Tigers turned in a score of 88.30 to secure their spot. Lake Zurich had the highest score with a 95.68, followed by Geneva (94.54). Cary-Grove (79.70) was 19th and did not move on. The top 12 out of 30 teams in Friday's preliminaries advance to Saturday's finals.

In Class 3A, Huntley (84.38) missed advancing with a 19th-place finish. Fremd (88.32) took the 12th and final qualifying spot. Naperville North (94.60) was first.

BOYS BOWLING

State Tournament: At St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, McHenry's Dalton Atwater bowled a 1,239 series (206.5 average) to advance to Saturday's finals. Atwater recorded games of 203, 188 and 223 in the first round, and 236, 213 and 176 in the second round.

Atwater's 1,239 series was 24th among individuals not on advancing teams and 58th overall. The top 30 individuals not on advancing teams go on to the finals. Atwater is only the second boys bowler from McHenry to go to state.

WRESTLING

Richmond-Burton 49, Johnsburg 24: At Richmond, the Rockets wrapped up a share of the Kishwaukee River Conference title with a victory over the Skyhawks. Both R-B and Burlington Central finished 5-1 in KRC duals.

ESCC Championships: At St. Viator in Arlington Heights, Marian Central finished second as a team and placed eight members on the All-East Suburban Catholic Conference team. Elon Rodriguez, Daniel Valeria and Dylan Connell finished first; Bryce Shelton placed second; and Kaden Randazzo, Joey Fitzgerald, Lou Gaddy and Thor Paglialong were third.

Glenbard South Triangular: At Glen Ellyn, Harvard defeated West Chicago, 51-23, and Glenbard South, 66-15. Uriel Herrera (113) and Nathan Rosas (195) both recorded pins against West Chicago, which forfeited six matches.

Bryce Fiegel (106) and Damyan Michel (145) had pins against Glenbard South.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Hampshire 71, Jacobs 59: At Hampshire, four Whip-Purs scored in double digits in their Fox Valley Conference win against the Golden Eagles. Kyle Johnson had 16 points and five 3s, Collin Woods and Justin Anderson had 14 points each, and Jackson Milison had 11 for Hampshire (13-11, 7-4 FVC).

Jacobs (10-11, 4-7) was led by Matt McCoy with a game-high 18 points and three 3s. James Hayes added 11 points, and Jalen Ramsey and Keshaun Lyons both added eight. Ramsey had two 3s.

Marengo 58, Richmond-Burton 45: At Marengo, Jeff Jankowski's game-high 26 points were not enough for the Rockets (7-12, 2-3) in a KRC loss to the Indians (10-9, 1-4). Matt Volkening led Marengo with 17 points and three 3s, Finn Schirmer had 16 points, and Brock Bertrand added eight points.

Crystal Lake Central 54, Prairie Ridge 52: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers scored in the final seconds to hold off the Wolves in FVC play. Prairie Ridge and Central were tied at 52 with 2.6 seconds remaining.

Alex Timmerman led the Tigers (14-7, 8-2) with 21 points, C.J. Lerum tallied 12 points, and Lucas Seegers had eight points and two 3s. Michael Patterson led everybody with 24 points and six 3s, Jack Podlasek had 11 points, and Tim Cook tossed in seven for the Wolves (2-19, 1-10).

Huntley 56, McHenry 39: At Huntley, Patrick Roppolo had 11 points to lead the Red Raiders (12-11, 6-5) past McHenry in FVC action. Davis Pasco scored nine points, while Uchenna Egekeze and Nathan Draper each had eight for Huntley. Ryan Sroka had six points and eight rebounds.

Johnsburg 75, Woodstock North 57: At Johnsburg, Zach Toussaint had 29 points and three 3s for the Skyhawks (12-9, 5-1) in a KRC win against the Thunder (9-9, 2-2). Jonny Preston added 14 points and Josh Notriano and Gibson Groves had six apiece. Ryan Schaffter had 15 points and two 3s to lead North, Cole Brey had 13 points, and Anthony Boege had nine points on three 3s.

Waukegan 70, Dundee-Crown 53: At Waukegan, the Chargers (15-5) fell to the Bulldogs in nonconference action.

Burlington Central 73, Harvard 54: At Burlington, the Hornets (10-11, 0-5) lost a KRC game to the Rockets (16-5, 4-1). Andrew Cooke led the Hornets with 16 points and Damone Mueller scored 15.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Alden-Hebron 61, South Beloit 34: At South Beloit, Rachel Pahl poured in 24 points on 12 field goals to lead the Giants past the Sobos in Northeastern Athletic Conference play. Eden Wanderer had 13 points, Kylee Winter had nine, and Abby Wanderer tossed in eight for A-H (18-4, 6-0).

GIRLS BOWLING

Johnsburg 1,924, Woodstock 1,851: At Kingston Lanes in Woodstock, the Skyhawks defeated the Blue Streaks by 73 pins. Miranda Hopp rolled the high series (423) and high game (166) for Johnsburg. Ceri Deacon rolled match highs in both series (438) and game (177).
