To the Editor:
Donna Kopsell criticizes state Rep. David McSweeney for his work on House Bill 348. It is a typical reaction from someone who has been able to benefit from the township nepotism system.
Unless I’m mistaken, she is the wife of the former Nunda Township road commissioner, hired by her husband to work in his office. It makes you wonder how many had applied for her job. Did she have special qualifications that gave her the edge? Just a little township nepotism to benefit the family. Nothing unusual here. It happens regularly in township government. Her husband now is on the County Board and is against consolidation and House Bill 348.
I applaud anyone who works to give the voter an opportunity to express their opinion at the ballot box, exactly what McSweeney’s bill provides. Thank you, Rep. McSweeney! I’m the wife of McHenry Township Trustee Bob Anderson, who works to minimize the ever-growing arm of township government. It’s important to know who’s making the comments and where their interests lie.
