School districts with transportation routes that may clash with Wednesday’s funeral procession for McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Keltner have alerted families and staff of probable delays.
Community High School District 155 warned parents about the possibility of delays in bus services because of Keltner’s funeral procession, which is expected to affect travel in Crystal Lake between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
“At this time, it is difficult to determine the impact that this event could have on our afternoon bus routes,” District 155 Superintendent Steve Olson said in a statement. “We will do our best to advise you of any significant delays and thank you in advance for your patience.”
District 155 spokeswoman Shannon Podzimek said the message has been shared with Crystal Lake School Elementary District 47, which shares buses with District 155.
Huntley School District 158 also is warning of probable delays.
The procession is expected to run through the District 158 area between 2 and 4:30 p.m. With several hundred law enforcement and emergency response vehicles expected to participate, delays will be possible, according to a notification on the district’s website.
District 158 spokesman Dan Armstrong also said it is unclear how much the procession will affect bus services.
