Check out our five players to watch with the high school girls soccer season getting underway this week.
Jenna Stayart, Cary-Grove, so., M/F
As a freshman, Stayart scored 14 goals for the Trojans, who won a Class 3A regional title and nearly won the sectional. Stayart had five multi-goal games for the Trojans.
Maggie Rimer, Crystal Lake South, sr., D
Rimer had yet to suit up for the Gators prior to this season, but she is a Division I commit to Oakland University in Michigan and should be one of the area’s top defenders.
Katelyn Skibinski, Dundee-Crown, jr., M
While D-C finished with a losing record a year ago, Skibinski went on a scoring tear. She scored 17 goals and had three assists during her sophomore season. She is one of the Fox Valley Conference’s top returning scorers.
Abby Klimkowski, Prairie Ridge, sr., D
Another FVC defender heading to a Division I program, Klimkowski will play at Purdue Fort Wayne next fall. She will patrol the back line for the Wolves, the defending FVC champions.
Taylor Prerost, Woodstock North, sr., F
Prerost was a machine for the Thunder. She scored 29 goals and added 12 assists as a junior a year ago. Both totals are North program records. She is already the Thunder’s all-time leading goal scorer with one more season to go.
