Letter: Huntley is more than watering holes

To the Editor:

It is time for the Northwest Herald to recognize that Huntley is much more than a few “watering holes.”

On Friday evening, Huntley and other communities came together to salute McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Keltner and all law enforcement professionals.

But the article Saturday morning highlighted Huntley with references such as “drink,” “watering holes,” “taverns” and people with a “buzz.”

To paint Huntley with four drinking references totally misses what Huntley is and why the community came together Friday.

Huntley is an exceptional small community and is often brought together by the tremendous fundraising and community spirit of the American Legion Post and Parkside Pub. It is also a community of outstanding and vibrant school, library, municipal and park district systems.

On Friday evening, families, teens and seniors came out strong to salute the procession of vehicles and, most importantly, the people inside the vehicles.

I am proud to be a business owner in a community as good as Huntley.Claudia Kendzior
