To the Editor:
Please vote “yes” to support the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District on April 2.
Our Woodstock firefighters need your help so they can be here when we need them.
Currently, the men and women of the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District are working tirelessly to meet the needs of our community when tragedy strikes.
Did you know that emergency responses are up 69 percent from 15 years ago when the last referendum was passed?
With more than 5,000 calls for service over 90 square miles, our fire department is in need of support and cannot deliver the required quality of service without more resources.
The trustees and administration have done all they can to address the financial needs of the district, but we must give them the resources to help them be there for our families’ needs.
Thoughtful cooperative efforts have been made to avoid coming to the taxpayers. Pushing off capital improvements and staff concessions can only go so far, but without additional public support, the needed resources will definitely be lacking.
For less than the cost of your morning coffee, we can support our Woodstock Fire/Rescue District to be there when we need them. Help our firefighters be there when we need them.
Vote “yes” for the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District referendum April 2.
