High school sports roundup for Friday, March 22

Aj Henkle’s two-RBI double opened the scoring in the third inning of Huntley's 3-2 nonconference victory over Waubonsie Valley on Friday at Huntley. Dylan Janke clubbed two doubles, and leadoff hitter Evan Tocmo went 2 for 2 with a run, an RBI and two walks.

Eli Paplanus pitched five innings, allowing one earned run, while striking out six and walking two for the Red Raiders (2-2). Kyle Maurer earned the save with two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.

Hampshire 10, Conant 0 (5 inn.): At Joliet Route 66 Stadium, Hampshire’s Matt Jachec and Dylan Petrey combined to shut out Conant over five innings, allowing two combined hits.

Jachec pitched four innings, striking out seven and walking two. Petrey pitched one scoreless inning, striking out two.

John Brady Young went 2 for 3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Jachec went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Gavin Kriegel went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs in the season opener for Hampshire (1-0).

Crystal Lake South 18, Elgin 0 (5 inn.): At Crystal Lake, South piled on 18 runs over two innings in a season-opening win over Elgin. The Gators scored eight in the second and 10 in the third.

Evan Jewson went 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Patrick Fischer went 1 for 2 with two RBIs. As a team, South (1-0) drew nine walks and capitalized on four Elgin errors.

Jacob Bimbi pitched three scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking two. South pitchers allowed one hit in the game.

Barrington 2, Prairie Ridge 0: At Barrington, Barrington’s Nate Holler shut down Prairie Ridge for five innings, striking out 10. Prairie Ridge’s Michael Patterson matched him for four scoreless innings, striking out six and walking none.

Barrington scored two runs in the fifth on a home run from A.J. Christoffer off the Wolves’ Braeden Harrell, who pitched two innings in relief.

Alex Powers went 1 for 3 with a double for Prairie Ridge (1-1). The Wolves had only three hits.

Richmond-Burton 16, North Boone 0 (5 inn.): At Richmond, nine Rockets recorded RBIs in R-B’s nonconference win.

Clayton Jarocki and Dalton Wood each drove in two runs. Jarocki went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. R-B (2-1) drew 10 walks and had 10 hits.

R-B’s Nick Ross pitched five scoreless innings, allowing one hit, while striking out six and walking two.


Hampshire 10, Bartlett 0 (5 inn.): At Bartlett, Hampshire’s Katie Del Re pitched five scoreless innings, striking out nine and allowing two hits, in Hampshire’s season-opener.

Alyssa Cork hit a double and drove in three runs on a 1-for-2 day that included a walk. Miki Snider went 1 for 1 with three walks, an RBI and three runs scored for the Whip-Purs (1-0).
