Letter: Alcohol-free weekend

To the Editor:

As part of Alcohol Awareness Month this April, I would like to encourage residents to participate in a three-day communitywide Alcohol-Free Weekend from April 5 to 7.

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence created the Alcohol-Free Weekend to help raise public awareness about the use of alcohol and how it may be affecting families, individuals, schools, businesses and the community.

If omitting alcohol over 72 hours is difficult or uncomfortable, I would encourage you to complete an alcohol assessment. They take about an hour to complete and are completely confidential. For information about the Renz Addiction Counseling Center, visit www.renzcenter.org.
