A man was struck by a vehicle and injured while walking into Home Depot in McHenry Sunday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred about 12:45 p.m. outside the hardware store, 2461 N. Richmond Road.
"[A] white truck hit a pedestrian walking into the store, walking toward the store," said McHenry Police Department Sgt. Kevin Cox, adding that the victim may have serious injuries. "We don't know how much because he was taken quickly."
The man was taken to Northwestern McHenry Hospital and then flown via Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Cox said. There were no other reported injuries.
Cox said "there was no indication" of drugs or alcohol impairing the motorist. He said the incident is under investigation.
McHenry Township Fire Protection District Batallion Chief Kevin Sears said the man suffered "serious" and "multi-systemic" injuries after being struck. He said first responders provided care at the scene before his transport. He didn't have any additional information.
The store remained open during the incident.
No additional details were immediately available. The store manager declined to comment. Condell declined to comment.
