A Johnsburg man could face up to 15 years in prison for his role in an attempted robbery that was orchestrated through an online sales app, according to a news release from the Lincolnshire Police Department.
At about 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a reported fight involving several subjects in the 100 block of Milwaukee Avenue in Lincolnshire, police said. Additional 911 calls indicated one of the subjects had a handgun.
When officers arrived, 21-year-old Jorge A. Lopez-Castillo, of the 3000 block of Weingard Road in Johnsburg, was arrested and sent to the Lake County Jail, according to the release. A replica handgun was also recovered at the scene.
During the initial investigation of the incident, a school and several business were placed on soft lockdown.
Police learned two subjects lured a third subject to the scene using an online sales app and attempted to rob the person, the release said. Police are still seeking to identify the other subject involved in the robbery, according to the news release sent Friday.
Lopez-Castillo is charged with aggravated robbery, a Class 1 felony typically punishable by four to 15 years in prison, and misdemeanor battery, police said.
