ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – An Aurora man has been sentenced to court supervision for making statements suggesting he would commit a mass shooting similar to one that occurred at an Aurora business in February, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced in a news release.

Kane County Circuit Judge Michael Noland sentenced Duane A. Moss, 54, of the 200 block of South Rosedale Avenue, Aurora, to 12 months of court supervision, 50 hours of community service and a $500 fine.

Moss pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct Monday, and Noland sentenced him Tuesday.

In addition, the judge barred Moss from the business in which he made the statements.

Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Patrick McCarthy stated in court that on March 12, Moss was at work and said in the presence of a co-worker that: “I will pull a Henry Pratt. It’s gonna be Pratt. Once I drag [expletive] up and down these floors, y’all will know I’m serious,” according to the release.

The witness and authorities took Moss’ comments as a reference to the Feb. 15 mass shooting at the Henry Pratt Co. in Aurora in which a gunman, an apparently disgruntled employee at the business who had just been terminated, shot and killed five co-workers and injured five Aurora police officers with gunfire before he shot and killed himself, according to the release.
