Crystal Lake South softball scored 11 runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth to come from behind and beat Dundee-Crown, 16-10, in Fox Valley Conference play on Thursday in Crystal Lake.

Brooke Kuffel hit a double and drove in three runs for South (14-0, 4-0), which remained unbeaten. Skylar Olsen was 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Maddie Bush and Baylee Kassel each hit a double, drove in two runs and scored twice. 

For D-C (3-9, 1-4), Cady English hit a home run and drove in two runs. Hannah Gestrich went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Kylie Ryza and Abigail Arsenault each went 2 for 4 with an RBI. 

Huntley 15, Crystal Lake Central 6:At Crystal Lake, Grace Kutz hit a grand slam and went 3 for 5 in Huntley’s FVC win. Sofia Tenuta hit a double and drove in three runs. Kendra Mitchell hit a double and was 4 for 5 with four runs and two RBIs for the Red Raiders (14-6, 4-2).

Huntley’s Aubrey McFadden pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing six runs, one earned. Jori Heard pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings. 

For Central (5-5, 1-3), Kenna Kessler was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. Morgann Paaske drove in one run and scored one run. 

Prairie Ridge 13, Jacobs 7: At Algonquin, Kylie Leverenz and Mackenzie Scully each hit two doubles for the Wolves (3-8, 2-3) in an FVC win. Each collected two hits. Leverenz drove in two runs and Scully drove in one. 

Julia Vosberg went 4 for 4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Emmie Farnam hit a home run and drove in four runs on a 2-for-4 day. Nichole Kiddy went 3 for 5 with three runs. 

For Jacobs (5-5, 2-2), Erica Anderson went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Abbey Nesnidal was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. 

Burlington Central 13, Marengo 11: At Burlington, despite scoring nine runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-9 lead, Marengo could not hold on in a Kishwaukee River Conference loss to the Rockets. 

Lauren Aubry went 3 for 5 with two doubles and two runs for Marengo (10-10, 2-2). Hannah Ritter was 3 for 3 with a double, three stolen bases and three runs. Jenna Turner and Mikayla Wzientek each drove in two runs. 

Burlington Central (10-1, 3-0) recorded 16 total hits. 

South Beloit 8, Alden-Hebron 1: At South Beloit, Zoe Deeringer had the Giants’ only hit in a Northeastern Athletic Conference loss. Brea Knoll had one RBI. Deeringer pitched all seven innings and struck out 11 for A-H (4-6, 2-1). 


Cary-Grove 11, Dundee-Crown 2: At Cary, C-G’s Quinn Priester pitched three scoreless innings without allowing a hit or a walk. Priester struck out four and threw 28 pitches. Ethan Estes and Jacob Duncan each pitched two innings without allowing an earned run. Duncan struck out five. 

LJ Waco hit a grand slam and went 2 for 4 for the Trojans (12-4, 6-2). Bobby Jannusch went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. 

For D-C (4-11, 0-6), Nick Gregory went 1 for 3 with two runs. 

Huntley 6, Crystal Lake South 3: At Huntley, Evan Tocmo went 2 for 4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs in Huntley’s FVC win. Jason Peters hit a double and drove in two runs. 

Kyle Maurer pitched five innings, allowing three unearned runs for Huntley (14-4, 8-2). He struck out three and walked four. James Sibert pitched two scoreless innings. 

Kyle Hetherington and Jacob Bimbi each had one hit and scored one run for South (8-7, 4-7). Nick DiBenedetto pitched all six inning, allowing six earned runs. 

Hampshire 8, Crystal Lake Central 7: At Hampshire, the Whip-Purs scored six runs in the seventh inning and won in walk-off fashion when Nick Sladek scored on a wild pitch. 

Gavin Kriegel went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Hampshire (10-5, 5-4). Andrew Krajecki hit a double, drove in two runs and scored three times. Matt Jachec pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six. 

Dean Mlaka and Will Welder each went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Central (6-9, 1-6). Reece Mensching struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings. 

McHenry 2, Prairie Ridge 1: At Crystal Lake, McHenry’s Jake Evans pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run while striking out four in an FVC win. Sean Richards closed out the final 1 2/3 innings without allowing a hit. 

Evans went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Nolan Shannon scored two runs for McHenry (11-5, 6-3). 

Ryan Goudschaal pitched 5 2/3 for Prairie Ridge (13-5, 7-3), allowing two unearned runs and striking out five in a loss. Jacob Reichert went 1 for 3 with an RBI. 

Alden-Hebron 7, South Beloit 5: At South Beloit, Alden-Hebron’s Logan Bohl pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out seven in a NAC win. 

Kyle Judson went 2 for 3 with three runs, two RBIs and a double. Brad Judson went 1 for 3 with two runs, an RBI and a double for the Giants (7-4, 5-1). Mike Ellison was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. 

Johnsburg 6, Harvard 5: At Harvard, the Hornets stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh when Johnsburg’s Casey Burnopp recorded three straight outs, including two strikeouts, to earn the save. Johnsburg had scored three runs in the top of the seventh of its KRC victory. 

Joey Hagen hit two doubles and drove in one run for Johnsburg (5-8, 2-4). Josh Notriano went 2 for 2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. 

Omar Garcia went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs for Harvard (7-4, 1-3). Hunter Gratz went 2 for 2 at the plate and pitched five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out four. 

Richmond-Burton 5, Marengo 1: At Marengo, Dalton Wood pitched five innings for R-B, allowing four hits and one earned run. Wood struck out six and walked four in a KRC win for the Rockets (9-9, 6-3). 

R-B’s Connor Donohoe went 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Chase Duncan went 2 for 3 with a double. 

For Marengo (5-11, 2-7), Aiden Smith went 2 for 4 with a double. Derek Peters went 3 for 4. Josh Streu pitched six innings in the loss. 


Huntley 2, Crystal Lake South 1: At Crystal Lake, Huntley’s Braidy Ceh scored in the 85th minute to give Huntley an overtime victory in FVC action. Huntley played most of the second half and all of overtime with only 10 players after Avery Fitzgerald received a red card. 

Alyssa Xanos provided the assist on Ceh’s game-winner. Ceh also scored Huntley’s lone goal in regulation in the 32nd minute, with an assist from Fitzgerald. Ashley Lovins made one save and Jenna Franklin made three saves in goal for Huntley (7-4-2, 3-1). 

South (3-8-1, 1-2) dropped its seventh consecutive match. 

Crystal Lake Central 8, Hampshire 1: At Crystal Lake, Central scored three goals in the first 6:17 of an FVC win. Freshman Kaitlin Gaunaurd scored twice. Mary Potvin and Megan Wozniak scored one goal and had one assist each. Erica Novy had two assists. 

Emma Bolanowski, Grace Rokos, Taylor Bittenbender and Samantha Sander each scored one goal. Caroline Dayon and Ellie Montford had one assist each. 

In goal, Nora Ryan and Erica Milan each made four saves for Central (10-1, 3-0). Hampshire (1-7-1, 1-3) scored its lone goal on a penalty kick. 

Prairie Ridge 7, McHenry 0: At McHenry, Abby Eriksen scored a hat trick and had two assists in the Wolves’ FVC win. Cat Crounse, Emily Eriksen, Maddie Kachelmuss and Mackenzie Nelson each scored one goal. 

Kelly Gende, Nikki Anderson, Delaney Todd and Reanne Weil all had assists for Prairie Ridge (10-1-1, 2-1). Annie Bantner made 23 saves for McHenry (4-5-1, 0-3).

Cary-Grove 4, Dundee-Crown 1: At Carpentersville, Kenedi Jones scored twice and had one assist for C-G in an FVC win. 

Kelli Ives and Kailyn Sheehan each scored goals for C-G (7-1-1, 3-0). Jenna Stayart and Elsa Larry had assists. McKenna Sheehan made two saves in goal. 

Katelyn Skibinski scored for D-C (4-6, 0-3). Rylee Quillen had the assist. Diana Santillan made 10 saves in goal and Kalyssa Gotter made two saves. 

Marengo 2, Richmond-Burton 1: At Marengo, Hannah Scholl and Madison Shines each scored for Marengo (3-5-3, 3-3) in a KRC win over R-B (4-6-1, 3-3-1). Marissa Knobloch made eight saves for the Indians. 

Woodstock 10, Johnsburg 0: At Johnsburg, Woodstock (3-5-1, 3-0-1) picked up a win over Johnsburg (0-6-1, 0-5-1) in KRC play. 


Huntley 6, Crystal Lake South 1: At South, Huntley won all four doubles matches in an FVC win. Thomas Patel and Matt Grubbs each won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. 

Julian Collins and Jack Adams won at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 6-1, against South’s Alex Freeman and Dan Minogue. Huntley’s Justin Schee and Drake Southwell won at No. 2 doubles. Ben Saiz and Andrew Burkey won at No. 3 doubles. Jason Coleman and Dani Dharmaratne won at No. 4 doubles. Huntley moves to 4-1 in the FVC.

South’s Jackson Schuetzle defeated Huntley’s Saarav Desai, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, in the No. 1 singles match. 

Crystal Lake Central 5, Hampshire 2: At Crystal Lake, John Wallace, Aditya Khandeshi and Joel Brickey won singles matches for Central (8-1, 3-1) in an FVC win. 

Central’s Nate Kopp and Kolbe Wallin won at No. 2 doubles and Carl Weckerlin and Matt Bass won at No. 4 doubles. 

Hampshire’s Blake Snider and John McCann defeated Central’s Jared Otlewis and Luke Reupert at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-4. Kyle Springborn and Chris Carr won at No. 3 doubles for the Whip-Purs. 

Cary-Grove 6, Dundee-Crown 1: At Carpentersville, C-G (8-7, 3-2) won all four doubles matches in an FVC win. Daniel Sowa and Dan Boldt won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, for C-G. 

Thomas and Ted Conneen needed three sets to defeat D-C’s JT Butcher and Sneh Shah at No. 1 doubles, 7-6 (1), 5-7, 6-0. Evan Eckheart and Luke Roe also needed three sets to win at No. 2 doubles. Eric Czapla and Peter Slowiak won at No. 3 doubles. Tommy Holczynski and Charlie Kraft won at No. 4 doubles. 

D-C’s Orlando Garcia defeated C-G’s Michael Greenwald, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.


Prairie Ridge 5, Huntley 4: At Crystal Lake, Prairie Ridge’s Adam Diskin assisted Jarred Tabor’s game-winning goal with 6:34 remaining to break a 4-4 tie. Tabor scored three times. Diskin and Ethan Kirchberg each scored one goal. 

Zach Clark, Diskin and Kirchberg each had one assist. Sam Ripple made nine saves in goal.

Dundee-Crown 6, Jacobs 4: At Algonquin, the Chargers picked up an FVC win.
