None were injured Wednesday when police say a 59-year-old man fired several gunshots across Ritz Road in Marengo.
McHenry County sheriff's officers and Marengo police responded at 12:07 a.m. Wednesday to the 22100 block of Marengo for a complaint of shots being fired, according to a news release.
Police learned that a man who lives in the area, Michael J. Coursey, fired a Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun four to five times for unknown reasons, according to the release and court documents.
Coursey, of the 22100 block of West Grant Highway, is accused of firing a 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun across Ritz Road, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Court.
Officers recovered a handgun and ammunition from the scene, the release stated.
Coursey did not have a concealed carry license,
Coursey is charged in McHenry County court with reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and disorderly conduct.
He remained at the McHenry County Jail Thursday evening on a $15,000 bond. Coursey would need to post $1,500 bail to be released.
The most serious charge, reckless discharge of a firearm, typically is punishable by as many as three years in prison.
Coursey is scheduled to make his next court appearance on May 16 in McHenry County.
