A 15-year-old Yorkville High School student was found in possession of two folding knives at the school Tuesday, Yorkville police said.

Police said the male student was taken into custody and charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon. He was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles pending court proceedings.

Police said the knives were found as they searched the lockers of two students involved in an earlier incident.

As they completed their investigation and arrest of the suspect, police said at no time was there a threat to the safety of students or staff members at the school.
