A Crystal Lake South teacher and coach was placed on paid administrative leave on Tuesday in what Community High School District 155 describes as an ongoing personnel matter involving a minor, according to communication from the district.
The Crystal Lake Police Department notified District 155 that it was initiating an investigation into Jay Mueller, head girls soccer coach and chemistry teacher at Crystal Lake South, on Tuesday morning.
"D155 is cooperating fully with the CLPD investigation," a statement from the district read. "As this is an ongoing personnel matter involving a minor, we are unable to make further comment at this time.
"If you have information that you believe could be pertinent to this investigation, please contact the Crystal Lake Police Department directly or a Crystal Lake South administrator."
No charges against Mueller were listed in McHenry County as of Tuesday night.
South athletic director Jason Bott confirmed Mueller did not coach Tuesday during South's season-ending loss to Burlington Central at the Class 2A Burlington Central Regional, but did not say who stepped in as the Gators' head coach.
A message left for Mueller was not immediately returned Tuesday evening.
