A McHenry woman was cited for failing to reduce her speed to avoid a crash after she rear-ended a Prairiewood Elementary School bus with four children aboard, officials said.
Officers responded to the crash at 6:51 a.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block of Aspen Drive, Woodstock Deputy Police Chief Ray Lanz said.
Several students were on board at the time, but none were injured, Woodstock School District 200 Director of Communications Kevin Lyons confirmed Wednesday.
The bus was stopped in the Apple Creek neighborhood with its yellow lights flashing when 26-year-old Swanmani Kurup struck the back of the bus with her 2012 Chrysler 2000, Lanz said.
Police issued Kurup a traffic citation and her vehicle was towed from the scene with heavy front-end damage, Lanz said.
