State Rep. Steve Reick, R-Woodstock, is inviting McHenry County residents to attend three community events hosted by his office before the end of the month.
The events include:
• Women’s Self-Defense Class: The free Women’s Self-Defense class organized by Reick is in collaboration with Turning Point of McHenry County and One Light Self-Defense. Learn what to hit, how to release holds, ways to be aware and what situations to avoid. Turning Point provides emergency shelter, comprehensive victim services and counseling for adults and children in domestic crisis. Women may bring their teenage daughters to participate. Call Reick’s office at 815-880-5340 to RSVP. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. June 25 at Woodstock High School, 501 W. South St., Woodstock.
• Latino Community Resources Fair: The Latino community resources fair sponsored by Reick is free to attend. The fair connects members of the Latino community with valuable state and local resources and providers of health, education, immigration, law, housing, finance and employment services. Booths will also be staffed by individuals who can help put Latinos in touch with agencies that offer free exams and check-ups. This unique event is the largest resource fair for the Latino community in northern McHenry County.
The event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, corner of Route 47 and St. John’s Road Woodstock.
• Coffee & Conversation: The Coffee & Conversation event is an opportunity to have a cup of coffee and conversation with Rep. Reick about the issues that matter to you most. It will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 29 at 3 Brothers Restaurant 1220 S. Eastwood Drive Woodstock.
