To the Editor:
Dorr Township Residents:
Get informed! Dorr Township wants to buy 10 acres of land for $100,000. This land is adjacent to the Highway Department. The land will be purchased for the Land Conservancy for McHenry County, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.
Supposedly, the Land Conservancy will then manage the property, programs, and offer recycling programs for residents. A special town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on June 25 to allow residents the opportunity to vote whether or not to purchase the property. The meeting will be held at the Township offices on Lake Avenue in Woodstock.
While we're all for recycling, we will vote no! This is a duplication of recycling services already offered by other non-profits and area businesses in the county.
The township should not purchase property for a non-profit or become involved with another entity that we do not know the long-term costs to manage. Our tax dollars should be better spent on our roads and mosquito abatement! Make your voice heard!
