2 semitrucks crash, sending pig remains across Route 47

The intersection of Plank Road and Route 47 was closed for about eight hours Saturday morning after two semitrucks collided, sending pig carcasses across the road.

The crash sent 14,000 pounds of pig parts across Route 47 at Plank Road, Kane County Undersheriff Pat Gengler said.

It was unclear Saturday afternoon where the trucks were traveling, what caused the crash or whether any citations were issued, Gengler said.

The intersection, which is in unincorporated Plato Township, was closed for about eight hours as crews cleaned up the site.
