DIXON – A Dixon woman faces multiple charges after being stopped Tuesday for driving her car with her daughters sitting in an inflated pool on the car’s roof.
Jennifer A. Janus Yeager, 49, was charged with two counts of endangering the health or life of a child and two counts of reckless conduct. She also was cited for failure to secure a passenger under the age of 8, and failure to secure a passenger under the age of 16.
Dixon police said in a news release that they received a complaint about an Audi car northbound on the Peoria Avenue Bridge, with children inside of a pool on the vehicle’s roof.
Officers found a white Audi Q5 westbound on state Route 2, just west of Palmyra Road, with a blue inflatable pool on the roof and two children sitting inside of the pool. They stopped the vehicle on River Lane, just south of state Route 2, and spoke with Yeager, who was driving the car.
During their investigation, the officers learned Yeager drove into town to inflate the pool at a friend’s house, and she had her two juvenile daughters ride inside of the empty pool to hold it down on their drive home.
Yeager was taken to the Dixon Police Department, where she posted bond and was released.
