McHenry County is expected to see temperatures in the high 90s on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A heat advisory will be in effect in the county from noon Thursday to 11 p.m. Friday, according to the weather service.

During the advisory, temperatures will range from 92 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit, with the hottest temperatures on Friday. The maximum heat index, which takes humidity into consideration, will range from 101 to 109 degrees, according to the weather service.

Temperatures like this could lead to heat-related illness, especially for those without air conditioning, elderly, small children and pets. The National Weather Service advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, avoid outdoor activity, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and check up on relatives and neighbors.

There is a limited thunderstorm risk between Thursday and Sunday, with limited flooding risk on Thursday. Thursday through Saturday has a significant excessive heat risk and an elevated excessive heat risk on Sunday, according to the weather service.

Warm temperatures overnight will offer little relief, according to the service.
