A yearlong Marengo police investigation has led to sexual assault charges against a 22-year-old Rockton man.
Officers with the Marengo Police Department arrested Nathan N. Rieken on July 19. Their investigation started in April 2018, when officers received allegations that Rieken had sexually assaulted as child in 2016, according to a news release Marengo police sent Monday morning.
Rieken, of the 300 block of Valley Forge Drive, is charged in McHenry County court with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.
The most serious charge, predatory criminal sexual assault, typically is punishable by as many as 30 years in prison.
Rieken was not appointed a public defender and has not yet hired a private attorney to represent him.
He remained at the McHenry County Jail on Monday morning on $500,000 bond, meaning he would need to post $50,000 to be released.
Rieken is scheduled to make a court appearance Aug. 16.
