High school sports roundup for Thursday, Oct. 31

Huntley secured its fourth straight regional title Thursday with a 25-14, 25-12 victory over Jacobs at the Class 4A Jacobs Regional in Algonquin.

Emma Konie posted seven kills, 10 digs and four aces to lead the Red Raiders (32-5). Kylie Jenkins had seven kills, Josie Schmitendorf had 12 digs, and Taylor Jakubowski had 21 assists and two blocks.

Maggie Wallenberger had four kills, four digs and a block for Jacobs (16-19). Ireland Van Stone also had four kills and a block. Rachel Kaczorowski supplied 13 assists, while Jaclyn Poirier and Kristen Wilson each had three kills.

Huntley will face Hononegah at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Class 4A Dundee-Crown Sectional semifinals in Carpentersville.

Cary-Grove 2, Warren 0: At the Class 4A Lake Zurich Regional, the Trojans (27-10) won their first regional title since 2015 with the win against Warren, 25-15, 25-14.

Evynn Layshock topped C-G with seven kills and 13 digs. Alexis German recorded three aces, Tricia Kennedy had four blocks, and Lauren Passaglia had 11 assists.

The Trojans will face Stevenson at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Class 4A Warren Sectional semifinals in Gurnee.

Lake Forest 2, McHenry 0: At the Class 4A McHenry Regional, the Warriors (24-13) came up just shy of their first regional championship since 1997 with a 25-22, 28-26 loss to Lake Forest.

Kaneland 2, Prairie Ridge 0: At the Class 3A Wauconda Regional, Prairie Ridge's season came to an end with a 26-24, 25-22 loss in the regional title match.

Trinity Sheridan led the Wolves (20-17) with 18 kills, Hannah Baudin paced the attack with 27 assists, and Ansley Morlock had 10 digs and two aces.

The loss snapped a string of four straight regional championships for Prairie Ridge, which finished fourth in Class 4A last season.

Rockford Lutheran 2, Marengo 0: At the Class 2A Winnebago Regional, Lillie Simons had seven kills and four blocks, but the Indians fell, 25-21, 25-19, in the championship match.

Marengo (21-12-4) was aiming for its first regional title since 1998.

Kaetlyn Jeschke added 14 digs, Alexis Kunde supplied four kills and seven digs, Lilly Johnson had 14 assists, and Mia Lulinski had four blocks.
