The Friends of McHenry County College Foundation will host a college-wide day of philanthropy, called the MCC Day of Giving, on Thursday aimed at benefiting students.
Alumni, employees, students, parents, friends and members of the community are encouraged to donate to support the Student Success Fund at MCC.
This fund helps MCC students with financial support to handle unexpected and unique emergency expenses. Through this fund, MCC officials hope to improve student retention when unforeseen circumstances may affect a student’s ability to stay in college and complete their educational goals.
The goal is to raise $3,000 to help students, said Brian DiBona, executive director of the Friends of MCC Foundation.
“The Friends of MCC Foundation Board of Directors will match donations dollar for dollar, up to $3,000. That means together we can raise $6,000 for the Student Success Fund,” he said.
The foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports MCC and is the only organization authorized to raise private funds on behalf of MCC. In addition to the Student Success Fund, the foundation offers student scholarships; operates Education to Empowerment, a scholarship and mentoring program for female students; and manages the college’s alumni association and related alumni events.
Donations to the foundation are tax deductible, and all proceeds go to helping students, according to MCC. College supporters may donate at www.mchenry.edu/giving, by calling 815-455-8721 or by visiting the college personally. For information, visit www.mchenry.edu/supportmcc.
