Crystal Lake South co-op’s Julia Gindorf, Huntley’s Sydney McGuine and Jacobs’ Jennifer Tokarz qualified from their respective sectional meets in two events for next weekend’s IHSA Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet.
South’s Makayla Nietzel also made it in four events for athletes with disabilities and can defend her four state titles Friday and Saturday at New Trier.
Gindorf qualfiied on time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.29) and the 100 backstroke (58.42) from the Barrington Sectional on Saturday.
Nietzel, who is legally blind, made it in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles, and in the 100 breaststroke. Both Gindorf, a senior, and Nietzel, a junior, are students at Prairie Ridge. South co-ops with Crystal Lake Central and Prairie Ridge.
McGuine, a senior, qualified on time in the 100 backstroke (57.86) and in the 50 freestyle (24.32). She will be joined at state by her sophomore teammate Ella Young, who made it in the 100 butterfly (57.21).
Tokarz advanced in the 200 freestyle (1:54.06) and the 500 freestyle (5:05.89).
