Harvard man charged after allegedly stabbing Channahon man Tuesday

Police have charged a Harvard man with aggravated battery after he allegedly stabbed a Channahon man on Tuesday, according to the Harvard Police Department.

Edwin W. Plants, 44, of the 600 block of Grant Street in Harvard, was arrested without incident Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded at 1:05 p.m. to the 600 block of Grant Street after receiving a report of a disturbance. Police located a stabbing victim, a 41-year-old Channahon man, who was transported by the Harvard Fire Protection District to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford.

Plants and the man had been arguing when the fight turned physical and Plants allegedly stabbed the man in the abdomen with an unknown type of knife, police said.

Plants then fled the scene in a car in an unknown direction. Police located him near Routes 47 and 176 in Woodstock, police said. Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department transported him to Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital with minor injuries related to the fight, police said.

Plants subsequently was taken to the McHenry County Jail in lieu of bond, police said.

The Channahon resident hadn’t been released from the hospital by Tuesday evening.

The incident remains under investigation.
