The state of Illinois’ pension crisis is out of control.
Democratic politicians suggest that we hand over the reigns of local control to unelected bureaucrats.
However, the working people of Illinois know that less personal freedom over our money and pension plans is not the answer.
Barrington Hills Village President Martin J. McLaughlin supports the logic of the people of Illinois.
McLaughlin is running to represent Illinois’ 52nd House District in Springfield. Not only has he been a success in the private sector, but he wants to implement his understanding to bring prosperity back to Illinois.
He stands out as an extraordinary candidate due to his laser focus on the pension crisis.
He will not allow public safety pensions to be jeopardized by corrupt decision-makers.
Pension consolidation should occur, on a localized level, only for pension plans funded below 50%.
All pension plans funded above 50% should remain independent. We know that inaction or incremental change will not achieve answers to such complex questions; therefore, in conjunction with lowering tax rates across the board, we need to bolster job growth in order to reform the underfunded pension plans that receive 30%, or less, funding.
We can do this by lowering unemployment and enabling more workers to pay into underfunded pensions. Illinois historically has possessed an uncanny ability to make hard choices to preserve freedom.
If we make changes now, Illinois can preserve the social safety net for my generation.
Bottom line: McLaughlin will carry out the will of the people in Springfield.
He consolidated various pension funds in Barrington Hills and made our community safer, culturally inclusive and balanced budgets across the board.
I encourage all loyal Illinoisans in the 52nd House District to cast their ballot for McLaughlin on March 17 so we can solve the pension crisis.
A vote for Martin J. McLaughlin will enable us to fight corruption, fulfill our true potential and fundamentally transform Illinois.
