The Dundee-Crown girls basketball team locked down South Elgin on defense in the fourth quarter, allowing only one basket, to pull away with a 35-28 victory Wednesday night in the D-C Girls Basketball Thanksgiving Tournament.
Alyssa Crenshaw led the Chargers (4-0) with 14 points. Gianine Boada added nine for D-C, including a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.
McHenry 49, Glenbrook North 40: At the Maine East Thanksgiving Tournament in Park Ridge, Mariah Honea hit her fourth 3 of the game with 30 seconds remaining to help the Warriors (4-0) take the championship game over the Spartans.
Honea led McHenry with 14 points, and Katie Beyer scored 12 and grabbed 12 rebounds. Ava Interrante added nine points for the Warriors.
Huntley 60, Streamwood 33: At the D-C Thanksgiving Tournament, Kamsi Nwogu and Raquel Radermacher each scored 12 points to lead the Red Raiders (2-2) past the Sabres.
Ashley Guazzo hit a pair of 3s and finished with 10 points. Carley Faulkner added eight points.
Palatine 32, Jacobs 26: At the D-C Thanksgiving Tournament, Melissa Fessler scored 10 points, and Mackenzie Leahy added nine as the Golden Eagles (1-3) fell to the Pirates.
Harvard 51, Alden-Hebron 27: At Harvard, Lindsey Shafer scored 12 points, and Lauren Shafer added 10 as the Hornets (4-2) defeated the Giants (1-5).
Haily Hill added nine for Harvard.
Cary-Grove 32, Lakes 18: At Cary, Emily Lukowski scored 13 points to lead the Trojans (3-1) past the Eagles in their nonconference game.
Lauren Passaglia and Paige Hoscheit each scored seven for C-G, which led, 16-15, at halftime before limiting Lakes to three second-half points.
Boylan 64, Crystal Lake South 57: At Crystal Lake, Ava Sevcik tossed in 16 points to lead the Gators (1-3) in their nonconference loss against the Titans.
Brooke Kuffel scored 13, and Emily Rich added 12.
Peyton Kennedy led Boylan with 28.
Richmond-Burton 50, Lake Zurich 46: At the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament, the Rockets (1-1) hit nine 3s and beat the Bears. Tommy Griffin led the way with 13 points and was one of four players with two 3s.
Payton May scored 10 points and hit two 3s, while Blake Volkmar and Dylan Schmidt also hit two 3s apiece.
Sterling 55, Dundee-Crown 35: At the Leland Strombom Holiday Tournament in Sycamore, Kyle Huber hit three 3s to lead the Chargers (0-1) in their loss to the Golden Warriors. Doug Miller added six points for D-C.
Grayslake North 80, Johnsburg 48: At the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament, freshman Dominic Jankowski fired in 23 points to lead the Knights past the Skyhawks (0-2).
Josh Notriano led Johnsburg with 12 points and two 3s. Stan Thill added nine, while David Claudio and Dylan Schmidt each scored seven.
Proviso West 62, Hampshire 60: At the St. Charles East Thanksgiving Tournament, the Whip-Purs (0-2) fell to the Panthers.
Jeremy Rosa led Hampshire with 17 points. Kenyan Davis added 12 points, and Collin Woods scored 11.
Marengo 57, Ottawa 39: At the Ottawa Thanksgiving Tournament, the Indians (1-1) tossed in 11 3s to defeat the Pirates for their first win of the season.
Brady Cannon and Aiden Smith each made three 3s, and Matt Volkening hit two. Smith led Marengo with 12 points, Volkening had 10, and Cannon added nine. Jonah Pace scored eight points and led the Indians with eight rebounds.
Woodstock 63, Harvard 33: At the Woodstock Hoops for Healing Tournament, 10 Blue Streaks (1-1) scored as they defeated the Hornets (0-2) in their game.
Ethan Zielinski led Woodstock with 12 points, Javier Garay added nine, and Ryan Steponaitis and Riley Ellegood each scored eight.
Alden-Hebron 51, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 29: At Hebron, Mikey Ellison scored 20 points and hit four 3s to lead the Giants to a nonconference victory. Cody Kurcab added 16 points.
Marengo 56, Winnebago 21: At Marengo, Marengo got six pins to beat Winnebago in its season opener. Logan Miller (113), Gunner Quatroke (120), Joe Recendez (126), Mathew Ostler (132), Sebastian Palka (170) and Eddie Solis (182) won by pins. Jake Doyle (145) won by a major decision.
McHenry Dual Meet: At McHenry, Zach Seymour (120), Brody Hallin (152) and Logan Lucas (160) all posted three wins as the Warriors went 1-2 in duals. McHenry beat Rockford East, 40-36; lost to Lake Forest, 52-21; and lost to Buffalo Grove, 36-32.
Seymour was barely on the mat for four minutes total in recording three pins. Logan won by two falls and a forfeit. Hallin won by a major decision, a decision and a forfeit.
Ruben Melgarejo (145) won by two major decisions.
Harvard 45, North Boone 28: At Harvard, Brett Lovell (138), Bailey Livdahl (160) and Nathan Rosas (195) won by pins to lead the Hornets to the victory.
Brian Hernandez (106) also won by decision for Harvard, which also picked up four forfeits.
Marengo 2,508, DeKalb 2,268: At DeKalb, Alex Wigman rolled a 604 series with a 241 third game to lead the Indians to a victory over the Barbs.
Kyle Peters had a 496 with a high game of 196. Tim Scholl and Brian Scholl each rolled a 480 series.
