The Crystal Lake police officers made two impaired driving arrests and issued seven seat belt and child safety seat tickets during their Thanksgiving enforcement campaign.
The two people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and having a blood alcohol level of more than 0.08, and one of those individuals was arrested for endangering the life and safety of a child.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in the holiday enforcement effort from Nov. 22 through Monday.
In addition to the arrests, the Crystal Lake police officers stopped 57 drivers for traffic violations and issued a total of 43 traffic tickets. These include 12 citations for speeding, 16 for unlawful use of an electronic communications device, six for other moving and equipment violations, seven citations were issued for occupant protection and two tickets were doled out for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
There also were 16 warning citations issued during the enforcement period.
Police said extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.
The enforcement effort was part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns, police said, and made possible by federal highway safety funds administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
