Trump's motives obvious; impeachment is justified
To the Editor:
During the recent impeachment inquiry, Republicans defended President Trump by claiming in his call to the Ukraine President the President was attempting root out corruption in Ukraine before releasing security aid.
Who better to ferret out corruption than President Trump? His background is filled with charges and judgments of corruption in his businesses and personal life.
Ukraine needed our aid in its battle to resist Russian aggression. One would think that the U.S. would be eager to provide aid to a country resisting the aggression of Russia.
Here are some countries that are considered the most corrupt in the world that receive foreign U.S.aid: Somalia Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Angola and Nigeria. None of the sources that listed the most corrupt countries included Ukraine. So why was President Trump withholding aid to a country battling Russia and why was he concerned with with the Biden's connection to Ukraine?
The answer is obvious – President Trump believed that Joe Biden would be his opponent in the 2020 election. His actions certainly rise to the level of a misdemeanor and he should be impeached.
