A Spring Grove woman is facing theft and forgery charges for allegedly stealing more than $135,000 from her Gilberts employer, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said on Monday.
Kane County prosecutors allege that Jennifer Bridgeman, 39, of the 200 block of West Greenwood Avenue in Spring Grove, stole the sum between 2016 and 2019 by writing company checks to herself and forging the owner’s signature, according to a release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors did not disclose the name of the business, nor how long Bridgeman worked there. She was a secretary at the unnamed company, according to prosecutors.
Kane County Associate Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo issued a warrant for Bridgeman’s arrest and set bond at $50,000. That means she had to pay $5,000, or 10%, to bail out of jail or otherwise be released.
Bridgeman surrendered at the Huntley Police Department on Friday. She then paid $5,000 and was released.
Bridgeman is charged with two counts of theft, a Class 1 felony typically punishable by four to 15 years in prison, and six counts of forgery, a Class 3 felony typically punishable by two to five years in prison.
Bridgeman’s next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Jan. 3 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
